Lions celebrate Veterans Nov. 10

The Flomaton Lions Club invites everyone to its first Veteran's Day Celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Flomaton Community Center.

The event will feature patriotic music by the Flomaton High School band, a formal flag retiring ceremony by Boy Scout Troop 31 and corn hole games that will utilize custom-made corn hole boxes representing each branch of the military.

Veterans will eat for free and there will be $5 plates with a hot dog, coleslaw, baked beans, chips and a drink for family members. Age 6 and under eat for $2.50.

“We are hoping this event to honor our veterans will be an annual celebration,” said Flomaton Lions Vice President Jon Crews. “There are events nearby, in Brewton, Atmore and Jay, so we wanted to add Flomaton to that list and show we care about the men and women who served their country.”
