Six arrested by East Brewton police for drugs

An undercover operation initiated by the East Brewton Police Department resulted in the arrest of two men accused of distribution on Lortab.

William Robert Pegel, Jr., 1684 Blair Road, Brewton, and Roger Wallie Harrelson, 63, same address, were both charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

East Brewton Police Sgt. Paige Howell said Pegel was arrested Sept. 28 and Harrelson was arrested on Sept. 29. He said the arrests followed an undercover operation that accuses the men of distributing Lortab pills.

East Brewton police also arrested four other individuals on drug charges over the past several weeks.

Terry Fitzgerald Floyd, 26, County Road 30, Evergreen, was arrested Sept. 29 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II.

According to Howell, an East Brewton police officer walked by a Dodge Charger in the parking lot of the Circle K in East Brewton and smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Floyd exited the store and got into the vehicle and left the parking lot. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found a bag of marijuana inside the vehicle.

Brad Anthony Davis, 41, 737 Williamson St., Apartment F1, East Brewton, was arrested Oct. 3 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

An East Brewton police officer witnessed Davis driving a vehicle and knew Davis did not have a driver's license. A traffic stop was initiated. Davis was asked to step out of the vehicle and he said had marijuana in his front pocket. However, police found two small bags of meth in his pocket.

Shaquilla Miller, 24, 119 Rankin St., Brewton, was arrested Oct. 10 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana I. Miller was pulled over for not having a tag light and police reported he was acting nervous. Police asked Miller if he had anything illegal in his possession and he said no. He was then asked to empty his pockets. Police later found a bag of marijuana in his sock.

Doyle Alex Barber, 60, 61777 Jack Springs Road, Atmore, was arrested Oct. 12 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Barber was pulled over on Shoffner Street in East Brewton for not having a tag light. Police saw a clear container in the back floorboard that contained a small amount of marijuana and two pipes.
