Bonnie Ruth Helton Maxwell, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Maxwell was born Jan. 21, 1928, to Meredith Price and Grace Jarrett Helton in Rome, Ga. She graduated from Girls’ High School in Rome and began working as an office professional. In the mid 1960s, she began working as a personal secretary to administrator Billy Joe Griffin at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. For more than two decades there, she worked in insurance and collection capacities. A member of Brewton First Baptsit Church for more than 60 years, she taught Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.
A Memorial Service was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Craver’s directing.
Mrs. Maxwell is survived by two sons, Robert T. (Marcia) ‘Spike” Maxwell and Darrell Helton (Fiancee Angela Moore Smith) “Rocky” Maxwell, both of Brewton; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Darrell “Bob’ Maxwell; and her parents.
