Truby Eloise Nation Mason, 97, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018.
Mrs. Mason was born Nov. 3, 1920, to Clinton Lafayette and Vida Wright Nation in Haleyville, Ala. Married in 1940, she worked as a secretary for Hines Realty Company and Escambia Insurance Agency between 1956 and her retirement in 1982. The eldest member of Brewton First United Methodist Church, where she was active in the choir, the Wesleyan Service Guild and taught and volunteered, she later developed a telephone ministry of calling every church member on their birthday and each person on the daily prayer list.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 19, at Brewton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Ellison officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Mason is survived by two daughters, Linda (Dick) McEwan and Phebe Lee of Mobile; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.
Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Angus Mason; and her parents.
