In another home victory, the Jay Royals never trailed in its 44-16 defeat of Lighthouse Christian Friday night at Merle V. North Stadium.
Jay's James Eddings put the first points on the board in the first quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run. The Royals' 2-point conversion failed, but Jay was ahead 6-0.
Not to be stopped, Eddings added to the lead with a 7-yard touchdown run. After once again failing to score on a 2-point conversion, the lead sat at 12-0 midway through the first quarter.
Lighthouse failed to answer the points and Jay's Trevor Flowers got on the board with a 2-yard touchdown on the ground. Soloman Ransom crossed the goal line with the 2-point pickup and put the Royals up 20-0 in the first.
Eddings once again got his hands on the ball and ran for an 11-yard touchdown. He also punched in the PAT on the ground, bringing the score to 28-0 to round out the first quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Stone Brown found the end zone with a 4-yard touchdown run. Eddings ran the ball in on the 2-point conversion, bringing the score to 36-0.
Jay quarterback Bryson McCullough hit Austin Ashworth through the air on a 56-yard touchdown pass. The PAT was no good, but the Royals were up 42-0 in the second quarter.
To round out scoring in the second quarter, Chandler Enfinger blocked a punt for a safety - bringing Jay's lead to 44-0 at the end of the half.
Lighthouse managed to put points on the scoreboard during the third quarter with a 67-yard touchdown run. The Warriors made the 2- point conversation, bringing the score to 44-8.
With the only scoring points in the fourth quarter, Lighthouse made a 51-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion, bringing the final score to 44-16.
The Royals ended the game with 321 of total offense yards, with 155 on the ground and 166 yards through the air. Eddings stood out offensively with five carries for 84 rushing yards. McCullough was 3-for-3 through the air with 109 yards and one touchdown.
The Royals enter the next round of playoffs against Bozeman at home in Jay. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
