The lights were lowered, the music began and the curtains were drawn to reveal that the contestants were ready to entertain the crowds during the 2018 Miss FHS pageant held this past Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Flomaton High School auditorium. This year's Master of Ceremonies was Gracie O'Bannon, who managed the segways into each category flawlessly while eliciting laughs from the attendees. Eight elegantly dressed contestants introduced themselves and then participated in various crowd pleasing performances including physical fitness routines, poise and elegance walks and talent showcasing. Also participating was 2018 Mr. FHS, Micah Boyette who escorted and presented each lady with a white rose. Guest performers such as Maddie Wright, Mattie Bailey and Valorie Padilla wowed visitors with their vocal and instrumental talents.
The participants in Thursday's events had already undergone an interview and talent portion on Tues., Nov. 6., and the top 4 talent winners were announced at the event. The top four winners, in no order, were Malin White, who played her flute in accompaniment to the Beatles "Let it Be", McKenzie Faulk, who signed Karen Wheaton's "Lord, You're Holy", Ansley Lasala, who twirled her baton to Natalie Grant's "More Than Anything" and Lana Harris, who performed a piano rendition of David Carr Glover's "The Great Smoky Mountains". The top four performers were asked to repeat their talent showcase at the Thursday night event.
The winners of the 2018 Miss FHS are: third runner-up Lana Harris, second runner-up Mattie White, first runner-up McKenzie Faulk and the overall winner, Ansley Lasala. This year's Spirit of Miss FHS went to Emily Creamer. The poise and appearance award went to Ansley Lasala. The best overall interview went to Mattie White. The over all talent winner was Lana Harris.
