Jeanne Rivers Scharnitzky, 88, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, in Brewton, Ala.
Mrs. Scharnitzky was born Jan. 6, 1930, to Ed and Julia Rivers in Louisville, Ga. and attended Barrett School of Nursing with the University of Georgia in Augusta. She married a young medical student named Emile Scharnitzky and moved to Columbus, Ga. for his internship. Later moving to Brewton, she used her RN skills as needed at D.W. McMillan Hospital, Brewton Medical Center and New Hope Manor Nursing Home and excelled at many hobbies, such as cooking, sewing and gardening.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 23, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church with Rev. Marshall Craver officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Scharnitzky is survived by four daughters, Brenda Taylor, Diane (Bucky) Phillippi, Camille (Wayne) Graves and Elaine Scharnitzky; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Scharnitzky was preceded in death by her husband, Emile O. Scharnitzky, Jr.
