Orley Joseph “Joe” Adams, 60, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, in McDavid, Fla.
Mr. Adams was a native of Three Rivers, Mich. who had resided in McDavid for the past 22 years. Retired from the U.S. Navy with 21 years of service, he had served in various duty stations around the world and aboard many ships, including RTC Great Lakes Illinois, Diego Garcia, Adak Alaska, USS Lexington CVT, NTC Corey Station, USS R.E. Byrd DDG 23, CBC Gulfport Mississippi, Kitty Hawk CV63 and others. He was a former employee at Crary's Dairy and the Florida Department of Corrections with 14 years of service and a member of the McDavid United Methodist Church.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. David W. Cook officiating. Burial followed at Crary Memorial Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Ruth Crary-Adams of McDavid; two sons, Garald “Hank” Adams and Edward Luther “Big Ed” Adams, both of Pensacola; his father, Gary (Janet Rose) Adams of Monroe, Mich.; one brother, Gary John (Cathy Marie) Adams of Monroe; two grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Lee Cunningham; and one sister, Rebecca Pauline Graves.
