The past few decades the United States inexplicably has been unable to control our borders. Illegal immigration has been the driving factor and focus, but it’s not unreasonable to expect the most powerful nation on earth to have some modicum of border security. We literally don’t know who is coming into our country and even when we catch them, we release them with a court summons and they promptly disappear into the shadows.
Recently, organized migrations of thousands dubbed caravans have been making the trek together; and they are increasing in frequency and size. Quite well equipped and supported, the latest caravan is estimated to be about 7,000. However, there is apparently a new twist with caravan migrants willing to resort to violence.
While families are included, the group is dominated by military age males and infiltrated with all manner of criminals, many of them preying on other vulnerable migrants particularly children. In a tactic reminiscent of Palestinians, about a thousand caravan migrants tried to storm our border throwing rocks, but also dragging women and children into harm’s way. Entry without authority or approval is illegal and with the use of force it’s also a threat to our people and sovereignty.
With women and children among the violent invaders, US Border Patrol used non-lethal tactics specifically tear gas to repel the assault. Though successful, the Border Patrol was maligned by the media. The press focused on a picture of women and children fleeing tear gas, but glossed over the rock throwers. The usual leftist outrage blamed Trump for such brutality, but it never bothered the press when the Obama Administration did it. Using women and children as a shield is cowardly and not a license for illegal activity.
The other oddly ironic aspect of these caravans is they come waving flags of the home countries they are supposedly fleeing for asylum in America. If their homelands are so bad, why aren’t they waving American flags and telling us they want to be Americans? Their homelands are probably that bad, but they don’t want to be Americans. They just want the right to resettle in the land of plenty bringing their hopelessly corrupt cultures with them.
Therein lies the crux of the global mass migration crisis. Whether here or in Europe, illegal immigrants don’t consider the cultures and governments of their destination countries as better or superior. They just see them as richer, so they are simply coming to get a slice of that pie. This is the same premise as socialism. As Obama emphasized, you didn’t build your wealth; it was given to you by government. The socialist view is that no one creates prosperity; it just exists, so you need to get in line for your share. And if those with the wealth won’t forfeit it, the government should confiscate it and redistribute it.
For socialists and peasants from under developed countries, wealth is a zero sum proposition. There is only one pie and it must be sliced narrower and narrower until everyone has a piece. They cannot grasp that capitalism is constantly baking more pies.
This fallacious notion that wealth cannot be created drives the open borders crusade. If you live in a poor nation, you should have the right to go to a rich nation. And in fact, the United Nations is working to institutionalize the right of global citizens to migrate where ever they desire. There is an international conference later this month to approve and adopt the United Nations Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration.
This Global Compact would ordain “migration” as a human right, so that means no nation can deny anyone their human right to migrate into your country. So in effect, borders would be erased and the sovereignty of nations eviscerated. This agreement also criminalizes any criticism of migration and even asks governments to censor any media critical of mass migration, so not only is national sovereignty disemboweled, freedom of speech is also gutted.
Fortunately, more nations are joining the United States in rejecting this ridiculous globalist coup. It probably won’t pass now, but watch for the turmoil to increase. Rush Limbaugh surmised the globalists are trying to manufacture a Gaza Strip situation on our southern border, so the media can shame us with the travails of illegal immigrants. Ultimately, it is not about improving the lot of illegal immigrants, they are simply pawns being manipulated to undermine the sovereignty of the United States.
