Atmore man collides with train

An Atmore man who failed to stop at a train crossing in Cantonment last Thursday and struck a train landed in the hospital and faces charges of failure to obey railroad crossing traffic control device and seatbelt violation.

Dustin Ryan Crumbley, 20, of Atmore, was traveling north on Jacks Branch Road approaching Muscogee Road in Cantonment, aanccording to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

A west bound train owned by Alabama Gulf Coast Railway was traveling west bound toward the crossing at Jacks Branch Road when Crumby failed to stop and traveled north into the train's path.

The front passenger side of Crumby's 2000 Toyota Tundra collided with the train's engine front, rotating in a counter-clockwise direction.

The vehicle then rolled onto it's passenger side, where it came to rest in a westerly direction. Crumby was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition.
