Crackdown nets two meth arrests

Flomaton PD cracks down on drug activity

The Flomaton Police Department's increased presence in the Holt Subdivision due to complaints of illegal drug activity led to the arrest of two men Monday for possessing methamphetamine.

Capt. Chance Thompson reported David Lane Mullally, 41, 91 Evelyn St., and Michael Leroy Stansberry, 34, 1704 College St., were both charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Capt. Thompson said additional patrols have been working the Holt Subdivision area due to complaints of drug activity. He said that beefed up patrol will continue.

About 10:30 p.m. Monday, Officer Issac Lopez was on patrol in the Holt Subdivision when he initiated a traffic stop for failure to signal near the intersection of VanHoosen Road and Holt Street. Lopez identified the driver as Mullally.

Lopez received consent to search and Chief Bryan Davis and Capt. Thompson assisted. Capt. Thompson located a clear crystal substance inside a book bag that tested positive for meth. Mullally was arrested and the investigation led officers to Stansberry's 1704 College St., residence where he was found in possession of meth. Stansberry was also arrested.

Both men were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton. Both were released on $5,000 bond.
