Robert “R.L.” Morris, 83, of Orange Beach, Ala., died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018.
Mr. Morris was born to John D. and Avie M. Morris of Bay Minette, Ala. He graduated from Baldwin County High School in 1953 and went on to graduate from Auburn University, where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, with a degree in forestry in 1957. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and later the Air National Guard Reserve. In a career than spanned more than 50 years, he worked for International Paper Company and Thomas J. Earle Timber Co., Inc. for many years. Later, he worked as an independent contractor, appraising and cruising tracts of timber all over south Alabama.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cindy Still officiating. Burial followed at Bay Minette Cemetery with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Barbara Moseley of Orange Beach, Ala.; three daughters, Tonya (David) Garrett, Tina (Kimble) Grafton and Tara Morris, all of Daphne, Ala.; two sisters, Louise Beasley of Atmore and Johnnie Sharpless of Cantonment, Fla.; four grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandchild.
