Luvirn G. Mathis, 83, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 in Atmore, Ala.
Mrs. Mathis was a native of Atmore and former resident of Flomaton who had resided in Atmore most of her life. Retired from Monsanto with 25 years of service, she was a member of Marranatha Ministries, where she served as vice president.
The funeral was held at 12 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bros. Thurl Pearson and Jessie Richardson and Sis. Carolyn Bankes officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Mathis is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bro. John K. Mathis of Atmore; two daughters, Margaret (Gene) Van Hoosen and Elizabeth Lambeth, both of Flomaton; one sister, Christeen Black of Century, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her parents, Sherill and Gladys Goodwin; her childrens' father, Carlton Shivers; and one brother, Leonard S. “Buddy” Goodwin.
