Smoke from car windows lead to E.B. bust
An East Brewton woman and a Brewton man sitting in a parked car with smoke coming out of the windows were arrested after East Brewton police discovered marijuana, methamphetamine and other paraphernalia inside their vehicle.
Alyssa Lynn Fuqua, 18, 87 Lucille Lane, East Brewton, and William Samuel Baker, 20, 640 Horseshoe Road, Brewton, were both arrested by East Brewton police on Jan. 12.
Fuqua was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth), unlawful possession of marijuana II and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Baker was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana II and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to reports released by the East Brewton Police Department, Officer Brandon Mealer was dispatched to Cedar Hill Church on Forrest Avenue on a suspicious vehicle complaint. The report notes when the officer arrived Fuqua and Baker were inside the vehicle and the officer reported seeing a large amount of smoke coming from the windows.
A subsequent search noted Fuqua was in possession of meth, marijuana and a pipe and Baker was found in possession of marijuana and rolling papers.
The report also noted Baker had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from drug court.
One jailed
On Jan. 11, East Brewton Police Officer Mealer pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Dailey Street and reported when he approached the vehicle he smelled the strong odor of marijuana.
After a K-9 dog alerted on the vehicle and a bag of marijuana was found in the center console resulting in the arrest of Robert Anthony Fantroy, 43, 101 Duncan St., East Brewton, on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana II.
