Norvie Lee “Slim” Trawick, 91, of Castleberry, Ala., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at Jay Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Trawick was a native of Brewton and longtime resident of California before moving to Castleberry in 2017. A retired carpenter in the construction industry and member of the Elks, he was a U.S. Navy Veteran stationed in Guam during WWII. He attended Oak Grove Holiness Church and participated in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, Calif. for several years.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, from the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home with Bros. Wilbur “Gam” Graves and Steve Cooper officiating. Burial followed at Beulah Cemetery in Brewton with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Trawick is survived by the mother of his children, Beatrice Baggett of Monroeville, Ala.; one son, Gerald W. “Jerry” (Lori) Trawick of Mexia, Ala.; three daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Smith of Castleberry, Linda Gayle Davenport of Mexia, Ala. and Charlee Skaggs of California; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Trawick was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sally Trawick; his parents, Lawrence Jacob and Ella Mae Blackmon Trawick; one brother, Henry Trawick; and one sister, Velma Ree Beech.
