Wilfred Van Davison, 52, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2019.
Mr. Davison was born April 20, 1966, to Curtis and Mary Davison in Atmore, Ala. A 1984 graduate of Escambia County High School, he began his career at Escofab, Inc., where he worked more than 20 years. Later employed by the Alabama Department of Corrections and Marvin's Hardware, he attended JDCC and earned a certification in A/C, heating and refrigeration and worked for ThyssenKrupp Steel USA. He later started his own business, “The Handy Man” service and attended the Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church, where he was on the Usher Board, sang in the Gospel Chorus and took part in other activities.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Bryant officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Davison is survived by his wife, Janice Davison; one son, Sedrick Van King of Pensacola; two daughters, Khadijah Montgomery and Kawanda King, both of Atmore; 10 siblings, Sandra (Wayne) Gray, Quanda (Alfonzia) Williams and Curtis (Linda) Davison, all of Atmore, and Sharon (Johnny) Trayvick of Phenix City, Ala., Barbara Dortch of Troy, Ala., Renevia Johnson of Oakman, Ala. Mary (Donald) Woods of Jeffersonville, Ind. Kathryn Rogers of Minneapolis, Minn., Shelia (Paul) Johnson of Newburg, N.Y. and Sherman (Cylinda) Davison of Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts and other extended family members and friends.
Mr. Davison was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl Davison and Lee Davison; and one sister, Genevia Jennings.
