James Lavon Roley

James Lavon Roley, 78, of Atmore, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, in Atmore.

Mr. Roley was born Aug. 11, 1940, to Samuel and Bessie Godwin Roley in Atmore and attended Ernest Ward High School and later served in the Army National Guard. Owner and operator of James Roley Construction Company for more than 40 years, he attended Atmore First Assembly of God Church and enjoyed spending time at his hunting camp in Vredenburgh, Ala.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, at Atmore First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Keith Lisenby officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Roley is survived by his wife of 32 years, JoAnn Morgan Roley; one son, Michael (Katie) Roley of Atmore; two daughters, Debra (Clark) Tims of Robertsdale, Ala. and Patsy (J. Paul) Pepin of Tampa, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and friends.

Mr. Roley was preceded in death by his parents; and eight siblings.
