Driver leaves accident scene, law enforcement needs public’s help
A two-vehicle crash at 12:10 a.m., Saturday, March 23, has claimed the life of an Nederland, Texas man and injured another.
Steven Stone Stewart, 47, was killed when the 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe he was riding in made contact with an unknown vehicle, left the roadway, and overturned. Stewart was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fl, where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, James Pittman, 55, of Nederland, was injured and transported to Atmore Community Hospital.
The vehicle that left the scene of the crash is believed to be a mini-van, blue in color. Law enforcement is asking anyone with any information about this crash is encouraged to call Alabama State Troopers at 251-578-1315.
The crash occurred on I-65 at the 67.1 mile marker, 16 miles west of Flomaton. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
