James Walter White

James Walter White, 93, of Brewton, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in a Pensacola healthcare facility after a brief illness.

Mr. White was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County, Ala. A U.S. Army veteran who served in Japan under the command of General McArthur, he retired from the T.R. Miller box factory in the bookkeeping department and was a member of the Brewton First United Methodist Church.

The funeral was held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 31, at Brewton's First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. A private burial followed.

Mr. White is survived by one daughter, Marsha (Clyde) Bear of Montgomery; one brother, Rev. Thomas “Tommy” White, Sr. of Brewton; two sisters, Mary Lou Smith of Cottage Hill, Fla. and Annie Laura Dubose of Brewton; and six grandchildren.

Mr. White was preceded in death by his wives, Martha Gillis White and Barlice White; and his parents, Johnnie L. and Annie Bell Stone White.
