Four are jailed in three different traffic stops
Reports of a reckless driver and two other traffic stops resulted in four people going to jail after Flomaton police found marijuana, spice and methamphetamine.
On May 3, Officer Derrick Hodges arrested Morgan M. Odom, 29, 2225 Scott Road, Brewton, for unlawful possession of marijuana II following a traffic stop for having no tag light.
According to reports, Hodges pulled the vehicle over near the intersection of Highway 31 and Old Fannie Road. When he approached the vehicle he reported he smelled the odor of marijuana. He stated after Odom exited the vehicle he observed her removing her hand from her pants. She then retrieved a bag of marijuana from her pants and gave it to the officer.
She was arrested and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
On May 4 officer Hodges received a complaint of a reckless driver involving a black jeep that later led to the arrest of Katherine Leann Hellinger, 34, 1751 Ringold St., Flomaton, for unlawful possession of a controlled substance (meth).
According to reports, Hodges, who had previous contact with the suspect, saw the described black jeep at 1751 Ringold St., with Hellinger inside the vehicle lying down as if attempting to hide. She told the officer she wasn't driving, but he noticed fresh groceries inside the vehicle.
Hellinger was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and she told the officer there was an old pipe, which she retrieved from her purse. Hodges also reported finding a bag of meth inside her wallet.
She was arrested and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
Two passengers in the back seat of a vehicle observed driving on the wrong side of the road and then stopping in the middle of the road were arrested May 5 and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (spice).
Joshua B. Ellis, 34, 667 Welka Road, Flomaton, and Amber Marie Nelson, 36, no address listed, were both transported to the detention center.
According to the report, Officer Hodges found a cigarette package inside a cardboard box in the back seat containing a partially smoked spice cigarette. He also reported finding a bag of spice in the back seat.
