Pearline Daughtry McGhee, 83, of Poarch, Ala., died Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Atmore.
Mrs. McGhee was born June 22, 1935 to Homer Jack and Nora McGhee Daughtry in Poarch. A lifelong member of the Friendly Holiness Church and daughter-in-law of the late Chief Calvin McGhee, she was a retired Department Director at the Department of Defence Army Depot in Corpus Christi, Texas. Also a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, she formally served on the tribal council.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 13, at McCullough Christian Center with Bros. Ralph Coleman and Ray Ward officiating. Burial followed at New Home Cemetery with Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. McGhee is survived by one son, Rickey McGhee of Canoe, Ala.; three daughters, Rose McGhee Coon, Carrie (Randy) Martin and Charlene McGhee, all of Poarch; one sister, Betty (Leonard) Garlitz of Birmingham, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McGhee was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Edward McGhee; her parents; one brother, W.C. Daughtry; one sister, Earline D. Coleman; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
