For those in the Atmore area who need a place to cool off this summer, or learn to swim and dive, the Tom Byrne Park Pool opened for public swimming May 28 and will be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will close for the season on Friday, August 2.
For ages 15 and under, the cost is $1 a day and for ages 16 and older, $2 a day to swim.
The pool is available for private parties from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday nights and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration for the Session 2 of swimming and diving lessons will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, June 17, at the Tom Byrne Park Pool.
Morning lessons will be at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., Monday, June 24 through Friday, July 12, for one hour each.
Afternoon lessons will be the same dates with classes at 5:20 p.m., 5:50 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday nights. These classes are one on one, each 30 minutes in length.
The cost for all lessons is $40 per student, per session.
Registration for Session 3 lessons will from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, July 8, with lessons taught the same morning times and afternoon times from Monday, July 15 through Friday, August 2.
Lap swimming is available to the public on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The cost is admission price. Aerobics will be taught on Tuesday and Thursday Nights from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., if participation is adequate.
