Anyone who loves to play video games, especially Fortnite, an interactive online video game, is invited to the compete in the 2nd annual Flomaton Lions Club Video Game Tournament from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., this Saturday, June 15, at Flomaton High School parking lot.
Pre-registration at Whataburger in Century or the Tri City Ledger office is $20 and includes a T-shirt. Registration on game day is $25. The grand prize for the overall winner is $100 and a medal.
The Flomaton High School Band Boosters will be selling concessions on tournament day and restrooms will be available for use. Principal Scott Hammond will be on sight at the high school. Participants age 8 and under require a parent or guardian and cannot be dropped off. There will be adults there to supervise.
The competition will be held inside a custom mobile gaming bus with On Sight Entertainment out of Loxley that features seven 4K ultra high definition TV screens and four 55-inch and one 60-inch screens inside the unit, where two more outside players can enjoy dancing and sports games like Just Dance.
The bus also has game consoles and plenty of wireless controllers from XBox One X, PlayStation 4 Pro and Nintendo Switch.
The game theater has five gaming stations on the inside that support up to 20 players with space available for 10 additional friends to watch on stadium seating. In addition, when weather permits, there are two more gaming stations on the outside that will support up to eight additional players.
This is the second year the Flomaton Lions Club is hosting the tournament. Two reasons for the event are to raise funds to benefit the FHS LEO Club scholarships and other community service projects and to bring awareness to area youth of what the Lions do, which is serve their community.
