A wreck on US Highway 29 and Whirlpool Road Tuesday evening involving a motorcycle and a moped resulted in two Century residents being Life Flighted to the hospital with critical injuries.
James Cooko, 45, was traveling north on a Harley Davidson motorcycle in the inside lane on Highway 29 approaching Whirlpool Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Susan Nichols, 49, was also traveling north in the outside lane of Highway 29 approaching Whirlpool Road. Nichols made an improper lane change and entered into the inside lane, occupied by the Harley Davidson, causing both vehicles to collide.
Due to the impact, both drivers were thrown off the vehicles and landed on the grassy median on Highway 29.
Both drivers sustained critical injuries and were Life Flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital. Neither driver was wearing a helmet as the time of the crash.
