James Hjalmer 'Papa James' Rogers

James Hjalmer “Papa James” Rogers, of Brewton, died Sunday, July 7, 2019, following a brief illness.

Mr. Rogers was a native of the Alco-Flora community of Brewton and life-long resident of Brewton. A U.S. Army Security Forces veteran and member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church, he was a long time member of the American Legion. He graduated W.S. Neal High School and attended Larkin Business School and Jefferson Davis Community College, retiring as a long distance truck driver.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 11, at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Norma Hammac Rogers of Brewton; one daughter, Heather (Jody Alford) Turner of Valley, Ala.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, Hjilmer and Mary Alice King Rogers; one brother, Harold King; one grandparent, Nancy Jane Flowers King; and other family members.
