Willis Matthew Ray, 89, died Saturday, July 6, 2019 in Century, Fla.
Mr. Ray was a native of Sontag, Miss. and former resident of Mobile how had resided in Canoe, Ala. for the past 64 years. Retired from Monsanta Corp. with 39 years of service, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and member of the Canoe Methodist Church.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 11, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Kavin Dykes and Carolyn Helms officiating. Burial followed at Canoe Free Will Baptist Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife of 69 years, Voncile M. Ray of Canoe; two daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Helms of Robinsonville, Ala. and Beverly (Don) Ellis of Atmore; one sister, Mary Conway of Atmore; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
