A Jay woman who was sitting in a running vehicle at a grocery store in Cantonment was arrested and charged with felony drug possession and suspended license last Thursday when police searched her vehicle and found drugs and paraphernalia.
Lisa Ann Fitzpatrick, 38, 2897 Highway 4, was approached by law enforcement who noticed her sitting inside a running silver Cherolet Impala in the corner of the parking lot at Winn Dixie in Cantonment last Thursday, according to an Escambia County Sheriff's Office report.
When asked what she was doing, the suspect told law enforcement she was waiting to pick up her brother who was at the plasma center, the report said. There is no plasma center at that shopping center or in the vicinity, so the officer asked to see Fitzpatrick's driver's license, the report said.
Fitzpatrick told the officer she did not have her driver's license and was asked to step out of the vehicle when she could not produce it, the report noted.
Upon further questioning, the suspect stated she had dropped her brother off at a plasma center in Pensacola, then drove to the methadone clinic before she parked at Winn Dixie to wait to pick him up.
The suspect stated she was on probation and stated no when the officer asked he if there was anything in the vehicle which could get her in trouble, according to the report.
When the officer searched the vehicle, he found one baggie containing crystal meth, one syringe containing a clear liquid, 16 syringes with needles and three clear, plastic baggies with a powdery residue, the report said.
The officer confirmed through dispatch that the suspect's license was suspended as a habitual traffic offender, the report said.
Fitzpatrick was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended habitual offender. She was transported to Escambia County Jail and given a total bond of $11,000.
