Curtis Lee “Pap” Jones, 77, of Atmore, died Friday, July 26, 2019.
Mr. Jones was a native of Meridian, Miss. who lived in Baldwin County, where he attended Douglasville High School in Bay Minette. Relocating to Detroit, Mich., where he lived for many years and worked in construction with Rosati Masonary Company, he moved back to Atmore more than 10 years ago and married. A member of New Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Atmore, he enjoyed working with his hands.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 3, at a church to be determined with Rev. Harold Askew officiating. Burial followed at Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Odessa Lee-Jones of Atmore; six sons, Douglas Wright of Inkster, Mich., Curtis Wright of Grand Rapids, Mich., Edward Wright of Mobile, Donald Montgomery of Atmore and Darrell Jones of Detroit; two daughters, Kendra Jones of Atmore and Nicole Jones of Detroit; four brothers, Mike Jones, Jr. and Johnny Ray Jones, both of Detroit, David Lee Jones of Ferndale, Mich. and James “Candyman” Douglas of Atmore; six sisters, Cynthia Vaughn, Ethelene Jones and Corine English, all of Detroit, Betty Jo Vaughn of Ferndale and Margie Ball and Estelle Mason Boggan, both of Atmore; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces cousins and friends.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by one son, Richard “Lil Pap” McDonald; one daughter, Tina Jones; his parents, Mike, Sr. and Mary Ellen Jones; three brothers, Henry Lee Jones, Lonnie Jones and Charles “Sugar Toe” Jones; and two sisters, Louvernie Finley.
