The city of Brewton is trying to re-establish recycling with a pilot program targeting corrugated cardboard and certain plastics.
"Everything with recycling has changed," said Steve Layton, public lands director and economic developer for the city of Brewton. "It's supply and demand."
The city has placed a recycling bin at the Douglas Square Shopping Center near Subway for the project.
Layton said the city will accept 'clean' cardboard such as cardboard boxes, but no cardboard products that once contained food. He also requests people flatten the boxes to conserve space in the bin.
