Burtram given life, no parole

Brewton man sodomized 4-year old girl

A Brewton man will spend the rest of his life in prison after Circuit Judge Dave Jordan sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole after a jury convicted him of sodomy I for molesting a 4-year old girl.

Judge Jordan handed down the sentence Wednesday morning against Christopher Lance Burtram, 34, whose last address was listed as 865 Travis Road. Judge Jordan also sentenced Burtram to 20 years in prison on his conviction of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

Burtram had no comment to the judge after the sentencing but turned to his attorney Shane Cooper and said “Good way to F#&@* me over.”

Burtram was originally arrested in May, 2015, and has remained in the Escambia County Detention Center since.

In July a jury deliberated about three hours before returning the guilty verdicts against Burtram.

Following his conviction, Assistant District Attorney Todd Stearns said under Alabama law a person more than 21 years old who is convicted of sodomy against a child under the age of six carries a mandatory life without the possibility of parole sentence
