Kellett resigns; advertising to begin soon
The town of Century will be searching for a new gas superintendent soon, as Wally Kellett resigned his position with the town recently to take another job.
Kellett worked for the town for more than a year while living in Pensacola, according to Century Mayor Henry Hawkins, who feels that Kellett 'got the town on the right track'.
The town has prioritized the installation of new gas meters where the old ones don't work and measure right or don't work at all, especially commercial gas meters for businesses that use a lot of gas. The Century council approved hiring three specialists in natural gas, under the recommendation of operations manager Eddy “Buz” Edwin, recently to expedite the installation and bring in revenue for the gas department.
“We're still working on the gas issues, like changing meters and such,” said Century Mayor Henry Hawkins. “We're working on getting them in before the cold snap.”
Hawkins said the issue of hiring a new gas superintendent will be discussed at the next town council meeting and advertising for the job should be in the next two weeks.
