Danny Edward Ray, 71, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, in Pensacola.
Mr. Ray lived most of his life in Georgia, Florida and Alabama, residing in Atmore for the past 15 years. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the V.F.W. Pensacola and the American Legion of Atmore. A retired over the road truck driver, he was a member of the American Trucker's Association and was awarded The Living Legend Award.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Kathleen Chavers and Bro. Steve Massengil officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Ray is survived by three sons, Eddie (Charlotte) Ray of Florala, Ala., Christopher (Alice) Ray of Atmore and Michael (Christy) Ray of Huricane, W.Va.; two daughters, Mellisa Ann Sapp (Emory) Morrisett of East Colquitt, Ga. and Carla Ray of St. Albans, W.Va.; two sisters, Vera Ray of Colquitt, Ga. and Tina Ray of Florala; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Ray; one daughter, Dana Ray; two brothers, Donny Ray and Jerry Ray.
