Callie Brooks Thames

Callie Brooks Thames, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, in Pensacola.

Mrs. Thames was a native of Frisco City, Ala. and graduate of Bethel Industrial Academy in Monroeville. After relocating to Atmore, she became a member of Mt. Gillead Baptist Church in the Freemanville community. She played both the piano and violin.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Bryant officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.

Mrs. Thames is survived by two sons, Gregory (Mary) Thames of Bay Minette and Regeory (Linda) Thames of Atmore; two sisters, Dorothy Brazzell and Mattie Bynum-Johnson, both of Atmore; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and other family members and friends.

Mrs. Thames was preceded in death by her husband, Henderson Thames; one son, Reginald Thames; her parents, William and Ada B. Brooks; three brothers, David Brooks, Bill Brooks and Gordon Brooks; and two sisters, Mary Johnson and Nazzie Ree Reynolds.
