Escambia Academy's Ty Williams scored four first half touchdowns to spark the Cougars' 41-0 win at Lowndes Academy that clinched homefield advantage for EA throughout the playoffs.
The Cougars will wrap up the regular season this Friday at home against Fort Dale Academy on Senior Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Friday night's win at Lowndes Academy was the second consecutive shutout for the Cougars in region play.
Head coach Hugh Fountain said the Cougars fumbled on the first play of the game but after the early miscue played a terrific ball game on the road.
The Cougar defense held Lowndes to 43 yards rushing on 32 attempts and allowed 104 yards to hold Lowndes to 147 yards of total offense.
Williams opened the scoring early in the first quarter when he returned a fumble 75 yards for a touchdown. He then caught three touchdown passes from Landon Sims for 18 yards, 35 yards and 50 yards consecutively. Orlando Medea made three of four PAT's and Escambia Academy took a 27-0 lead into the lockerroom at the half.
Daughtry McGhee scored on a 37 yard run and Shannon Wheat added a 34-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Medea's two PATs were good to make the final score 41-0.
Offensively, EA rushed 40 times for 214 yards and Sims hit on nine of 13 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns to give the Cougars 365 yards of total offense.
Wheat led the rushing attack with 86 yards on eight carries and a touchdown and McGhee had 62 yards on five carries and a touchdown.
Williams' big night gives him eight touchdown receptions in the past three games and Sims has passed for 534 yards and nine touchdowns during the same time span.
