EB man jailed for sexually abusing child

A 41-year old East Brewton man is being held on $500,000 bond after being arrested for sex abuse I, sodomy I and sex abuse on a child less than 12-years old for alleged sexual contact with a 5-year old girl.

Silas Wayne Yocum, 113 Mantel St., East Brewton, was arrested on a warrant signed by the East Brewton Police Department. He appeared before District Judge Eric Coale on Oct. 31 where he received the $500,000 bond.

According to the arrest warrants, Yocum is accused of sexually abusing the child from October, 2018, through October, 2019.

He is accused of forcing the young girl to perform oral sex on him and perform other sexual acts.

Should Yocum be released on bail the order states he is to have no contact with the victim or any child under the age of 18.
