John Henry Contreras, 65, of Flomaton, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019.
Mr. Contreras was a native of Knippa, Texas who had been a resident of Flomaton since moving to Alabama in the 1970's. He built Feed Lots across the United States while working for Brown Equipment Company. For the past 18 years, he worked for Alabama Tank Company in Atmore and was a member of First Flomaton Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and usher.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chip Barbas and Bro. Wayne Butts officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Contreras is survived by his wife, Karen Contreras of Flomaton; one son, John (Laura) Contreras, Jr. of Poth, Texas; three brothers, Severo (Irma) Contreras, Jr. of Huntsville, Sam (Mary) Contreras of Knippa and Marl Contreras of Uvalde, Texas; one sister, Barbara Rodriguez (Marcos Juarez) of Hillsboro, Texas; his father, Severo Contreras, Sr. of Knippa; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
Mr. Contreras was preceded in death by his mother, Cruz Contreras; and two brothers, Jimmy Contreras and Tony Contreras.
