The Escambia County (Ala.) Commission is moving ahead with the sale of several old vehicles and a parcel of land on River Road, which will be sold to the highest bidder.
The old vehicles were formerly used by the sheriff's office and now sit at the county's work shop. County Clerk-Administrator Tony Sanks said the old vehicles will be posted on the govdeals.com website for people to make offers.
The county will also be advertising to sell property it owns on River Road. Commission Chairman Raymond Wiggins said the property was seized by the sheriff's office several years ago.
In other business Monday, the commission approved a non-exclusive cable franchise to Mediacom for unincorporated areas of the county.
Commissioner Karean Reynolds also told the commission that the board needs to address space issues in the district attorney's office.
“They don't have adequate space,” Reynolds said of the DA's office. “At some point we'll have to deal with it. They are on top of each other up there.”
Reynolds suggested commissioners go by the office to see for themselves.
