Local students recognized by universities

Students from the area were recognized recently for their achievements by colleges or universities they attend.

Mississippi College

McHenry Coleman of Brewton has been named to the Spring 2019 President's List at Mississippi College

The Mississippi College Office of Academic Affairs releases the president's list after the close of fall and spring semesters each academic year. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average, based on a 4.0 system. The student must take a full course load of at least 12 semester hours of undergraduate credit with all academic courses impacting their grade point average.

Troy University

Local students who completed the requirements for graduation from Troy University during the Fall Semester and Term 2 of the 2019/2020 academic year. graduated include: from Brewton, Johnathan Hall, Jalen Jones, Morgan Manning, Matthew Sanders, Hannah Weaver and Ronald Young; from Atmore, Chelsea Turner and Ariel Whatley; and Kristin Fillmore of Flomaton.

The Fall Semester includes graduates from the Troy campus. Term 2 graduates include students at Troy's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Ala., along with teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

Huntingdon College

Local students from Flomaton, Monroeville, Atmore, Brewton, Frisco City and Uriah were included on the Huntingdon College Office of the Registra’s lists of full-time undergraduate day students whose academic performance during the fall semester 2019 qualified for recognition on the College's Dean's List of Honors or Dean's List of High Honors.

Local students who made the Dean’s List of Honors are: Brittany Ann Miles of Flomaton and Brendon Scout Carson of Monroeville.

Those local students who made the Dean’s List of High Honors are: Derik Andrew Kidd of Atmore; Kennedy Alison Harp of Brewton; Haleigh Nicole Ridgeway of Frisco City; and Rachael Louise Williams of Uriah.

The Dean's List of High Honors recognizes those who achieved semester grade point averages of 3.8 to 4.00. The Dean's List of Honors recognizes those who achieved semester averages of 3.6 to 3.79. To be eligible for inclusion on either list, a student must have received letter grade evaluations on at least 12 hours during the term and must have completed all coursework for the term.
