Driver passed doing 100 mph
A Monroeville man lost his life in a four-car crash last Thursday on Highway 21 near Ross Road in Atmore.
Warren Demetrick Stallworth, 39, was traveling south at a high rate of speed Jan. 23 in a 2019 Acura when he collided head-on with a 2019 Ford F-150 driver by 36-year-old Spencer Rogers, of Atmore, according to an ALEA (Alabama Law Enforcement Agency) report.
Also involved in the crash was a Chevrolet Impala, driven by Sherry Ann Dale, 60, of Frisco City and a 2008 Dodge ram driven by Sharon Banks, 53, of Monroeville.
Rogers, Dale, Banks and two others were transported for injuries. Stallworth, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
A statement from the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office advised an Escambia County Investigator was traveling south on Highway 21 in an unmarked vehicle and was passed by Stallworth's Acura traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour. The investigator and other vehicles were run off the road. The investigator activated his lights and siren in an attempt to catch the Acura, but was unable to. It is not known if Stallworth knew law enforcement was behind him.
The investigator came upon the crash that involved the Acura and other vehicles down from Ross Road.
The crash investigation continues by ALEA and no further information is available at this time.
