Edna Laura Hendrieth Jones, 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020.
Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 8, 1938, to Arthur and Clara Hendrieth, Sr., in Brewton, Ala. After she attended Piney Grove Elementary School, she completed her education at Southern Normal High School. She joined Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the gospel choir and with the Pine Grove MBC Gospel Chorus. She eventually resided at West Gate Village.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, at Greater Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Straughn officiating. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery with Christian Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Johnny Ray Jones; one son, Tyra Madison of Brewton; three daughters, Sonya (Willie) Williams, Laganza (Morris) Samuel of Pensacola amd Cynthia (Flint) Fantroy of Blythewood, S.C.: one brother, Mark (Lillie) Hendrieth of Brewton; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by one son, Michael Hendrieth; her parents; three brothers, Clarence Hendrieth, Arthur Hendrieth, Jr. and Joe Lewis Hendrieth; five sisters, Arthurine Smith, Gazella Stallworth, Cleimentine Richards and two infants; and one grandchild.
