Jay business burglarized

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office responded to an alarm around 2:30 a.m. at Pittman Building Supply in Jay last Friday involving the theft of firearms and other items, according to a Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office report.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sergeant Rich Aloy said no further information was available because the theft is still heavily under investigation.

Jay Mayor and part owner of Pittman Supply Shon Owens said this is the first time the store has been burglarized. Owens is owner or part owner of several businesses in the town of Jay.

“There was a break in and there were guns stolen, 10 of them,” said Owens. “The sheriff's office feels like they have some good leads, but they are still working on it.”
