Escambia County (Ala.) Huxford Elementary School will receive one of 98 Alabama Power Foundation Classroom grants awarded to elementary, middle and high schools across the state of Alabama to support learning initiatives. The funds will provide teachers up to $1,000 to purchase materials and supplies that can be used to improve the classroom environment and enhance student's abilities to learn.
“We currently have some projects we look forward to doing in the future, this grant will help put us one step closer,” said Principal Leigh Ann Rowland. “We are grateful that we are given the opportunity to be chosen out of the many applicants.”
Rowland said the projects are in the development stage at this point and it will be a while before the information she needs will be available to move forward.
