George McClure Andress, 80, of Jay, Fla., died Saturday, March 7, 2020, in Jay.
Mr. Andress was born Aug. 16, 1939, to Everette and Manzelle Metts Andress in Hybart, Ala.and had been a resident of Santa Rosa County since 1978. Retired from the United States Navy having served in Vietnam, where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal (One Bronze Star), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forced Expeditionary Medal, four Good Conduct Medals and a Letter of Recommendation, he was of the Baptist faith.
The funeral was held at12:30 p.m., Thursday, March 12, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitch Herring officiating. Burial followed at Cora Cemetery in Jay with full military honors and Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Andress is survived by two step-sons, Norman Otts and Jerry Otts, both of Michigan; and numerous nephews, nieces and other family members and a special friend, Betty Killam of the Poplar Dell community.
Mr. Andress was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Miller Andress; his parents; two infant brothers; and one sister, Martha Irene Griffin.
