A Jay motorcycle rider who was stopped for speeding March 12 now faces a felony drug charge when a search of his motorcycle revealed crystal meth.
Kevin Scott Rentz, 55, was pulled over last Thursday on Highway 89 at Peanut Trail in Jay for going 77 mph (miles per hour) in a 55 mph zone, according to a Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office report.
When the traffic stop was completed and Rentz was told he was free to go, an officer asked Rentz if his motorcycle could be searched. Rentz gave permission.
The report said the officer located a clear baggie with what field tested positive for methamphetamine inside Rentz' wallet.
Rentz was arrested and charged one count felony possession of a controlled substance, transported to Santa Rosa County Jail and given a bond of $5,000.
