The town of Century, in response to the COVID-19 guidelines, will air its bill list review at 6:45 p.m. and council meeting at 7 p.m., on Monday, April 6, in a conference-style phone meeting.
Anyone can attend by calling 712-770-5019 and entering the code 227646 then # when prompted.
“The governor issued a stay at home order and also issued an order lifting the ban on the quorum for meetings.,” said Century Mator Henry Hawkins. “My quorum can be over the telephone.”
The town put out a public notice with the call number and code and the mayor encourages all citizens to stay informed of what’s going on in the town, which can now be done by telephone.
“We are practicing safe distance,” said Hawkins.
Instructions will be given over the phone, starting with a roll call of council members to ensure a quorum present. Then the council members will have to state their name before they comment. They will have to be recognized by the chair before they speak.
Hawkins said he and three council members will be present at the town hall in Century and that measuring the room to see how many persons are allowed while observing the six-foot roll will determine the number.
