Tax collector moves back tax sale

Escambia County (Ala.) to hold delinquent property tax sale July 2

Escambia County (Ala.) Tax Collector Tim Pettis announced that the county's delinquent tax property sale has been postponed until July 2 to give taxpayers additional time to pay their bills before additional penalties are added to the total.

The sale of properties where the property taxes have not been paid is normally held in May in front of the courthouse. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alabama Department of Finance Office of the State Comptroller has extended the county's final settlement date to Aug. 31.
