New Beginninghs set for another giveaway today (Thursday) if the weather is OK

New Beginnings Worship Center, Pensacola Caring Hearts and the city of Brewton teamed up to hand out 15,000 pounds of food last Thursday and has plans to hand out another 9,000 pounds today (Thursday), weather providing.

New Beginnings Administrator Samantha Bell, who also serves as the director of the center's women's program, said the 15,000 pounds of food fed more than 400 families which helped feed about 800 people.

Bell said the center plans to continue the ministry each Thursday as long as the need is there.

"It's based on need and funding," Bell said. "We plan to continue through May."

She said the center had received more than 100 calls over the past few weeks from people needing food.

This past Friday, cars lined up and drove through a pick-up line where each vehicle received a box containing chicken fajita strips, beans, potatoes, fruit bowls and peanut butter.

The food give-away is scheduled to be held again this Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. at New Beginnings Worship Center, located at 717 St. Nicholas Ave., in Brewton. Bell said Thursday's give-away will depend on the weather with several storms being predicted.
