Flomaton to give out food Saturday

Announces people wanting to be on the Aug. 25 ballot, must be resident by May 25

The town of Flomaton will be giving away food again beginning at 10 a.m. this Saturday at the Flomaton Community Center on McCurdy Street.

As with past giveaways, cars should come down Ringold Street, turn onto McCurdy and pull up in front of the community center.

“I applaud the mayor and others who provided the food,” Flomaton Councilwoman Lillian Dean said during Monday afternoon's council meeting. “Every person was grateful.”

She also thanked the many people who helped during the giveaway and those who donated money to the project.

Mayor Dewey Bondurant, Jr., told the council he received a call from Atmore Mayor Jim Staff asking him how the town did its previous food giveaways.

Election

Mayor Bondurant also announced that any person wanting to be on the ballot for the Aug. 25 elections for mayor and council must be a resident of Flomaton by May 25. Bondurant also said those running for council seats must be a resident of their respective district.
