Mose “Buddy” Burkett, 86, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in Jay, Fla.
Mr. Burkett was a native of Moyeville, Ala. and former resident of the Flomaton and Century area who had resided in Jay for the past 44 years. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a retired maintenance worker wit Monsanto Corp with 36 years of service. He was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom in Brewton.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 9, at the Moyeville Cemetery with Bro. Richard Ash officiating. Burial followed with Petty-Eastside Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Burkett is survived by one son, Rodney (Dana) Burkett of Century; two brothers, Robert Burkett of Flomaton and Arthur Burkett of Panama City, Fla.; six sisters, Frances (Ed) Hayles of Atmore, Reaatha Emmons of Pineview, Ala., Edwina “Red” (Alton) Calloway of Flomaton, Essie Amodeo and Mary Daniels, both of Milton, Fla., and Natasha Burkett; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Burkett was preceded in death by his wife and childrens' mother, Birdie Ann Burkett and Helen Burkett; three sons, Tommy Adkins, Jerry Adkins and Randy Burkett; two daughters, Victoria Pierre and Joann Ridderbjelke; his parents, Warren and Ruby Jo Burkett; four brothers, Shep Burkett, Charles W. Burkett, Joe Burkett and Dempsey Burkett; and two sisters, Susie Mae Penton and Rochelle Macks Bankston.
