Two area students, Joshua Barrett Fields of Brewton, Ala. and Haleigh Ridgeway of Frisco City, Ala., were inducted Spring 2020 into one or more of 15 honor societies Huntingdon College offers where students may earn membership on the basis of academic achievement, leadership, or other merits.
Fields was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, an honor society whose purpose is to confer distinction upon students of English language and literature.
Ridgeway, Class of 2021, s was inducted into Alpha Beta, an honor society for upper-class students honoring excellence in scholarship and encouraging scholastic attainment.
Both Fields and Ridgeway were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, an honor society that recognizes high academic achievement in the first year of college study.
Membership eligibility is extended to those who have achieved cumulative grade point averages of 3.5 or better by the end of the first year while enrolled full-time in traditional day courses.
Both Fields and Ridgeway rank in the top 20 percent of their class.
The installation of student members into some of the honor societies this spring 2020 was hampered because of closures or postponements caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
